Trading, market and data platform development
Trading and data platform development is building software that ingests live market or event data, applies rules, raises alerts and presents the results in dashboards people can act on. StackEndBox builds these systems for teams and companies creating trading tools, analytics products or data-intensive platforms.
Begin with a licensed data source and a defined research or monitoring task. We can scope a data-feed proof, a historical replay harness or a dashboard before considering a larger trading platform. Read-only research, paper execution and live order routing are different scopes. A successful backtest does not authorise or establish readiness for live trading.
Choose an available time on our booking page, or email a brief if you prefer. No credentials or private records are needed to start. A booked call is a scoping conversation, not a project commitment.
Who this is for
- Teams building trading tools, analytics products or market dashboards.
- Businesses that need to combine several data sources into one reliable view.
- Products that depend on alerts and rules firing accurately on live data.
When this is the right fit
- Your product depends on data that arrives continuously and must be shown or acted on quickly.
- You already know the strategy, rules or analysis you want to automate and need software to carry it.
- Several data sources must be reconciled into one consistent view.
- Users need to see limits, exposure or status at a glance and trust that the numbers are right.
What we build
Real-time data pipelines
Ingestion of live feeds and events, normalised and stored so the product can use them.
Historical replay and backtesting infrastructure
Implement your specified rules against a versioned dataset. Define event time, time zones, corporate-action treatment, missing data, fees and fill assumptions. Separate development and evaluation periods and report sensitivity instead of presenting a fitted result as future performance.
Rules and alerts
Configurable conditions that trigger notifications or actions, with a history of what fired and why.
Dashboards and analytics
Interfaces that present large volumes of data clearly and stay responsive.
Risk and monitoring views
Screens that surface limits, exposure and status so people can act in time.
Reporting and exports
Records and reports built from the underlying data, with an audit trail.
What you get
- A data model and pipeline that ingests the feeds you specify and stores them reliably.
- Rules and alerting you can configure, with a log of what fired and when.
- Dashboards built for the access patterns your users actually have.
- A versioned dataset and calculation contract, with licensing and redistribution assumptions recorded.
- Replay tests for late, duplicate, missing and out-of-order events, with agreed load and latency denominators.
- For a research scope, backtest configuration and assumptions, reproducible run references and explicit exclusions from live execution.
- Source code, deployment notes and monitoring so you can see when a feed stalls.
Review the data contract before commissioning a platform
This synthetic acceptance set describes what to ask a provider to demonstrate. It is not a published benchmark or a client result.
Two feeds use different timestamps or market sessions.
Keep source time and arrival time distinct, normalise under a written rule and show how daylight-saving changes and session boundaries are handled.
An event arrives late, twice or after a feed interruption.
Replay the fixture, inspect ordering and deduplication, and show stale-data status instead of silently treating the feed as current.
A strategy looks good only with an optimistic fill model.
Show fee, spread, slippage and liquidity assumptions. Separate in-sample tuning from held-out evaluation. No simulation establishes a profitable live strategy.
A buyer asks to redistribute vendor data.
Confirm the actual licence and permitted audience before implementation. API access alone does not grant redistribution rights.
MERIDIAN is included in our selected engineering work. Its listing does not establish an independently verified performance result. Project-specific data coverage, latency and operating claims require an agreed demonstration. We do not sell profitable strategies or provide investment advice.
Software, not financial services
We build software. We do not give investment advice, supply trading strategies, hold brokerage or other financial licences, or operate exchanges or trading venues. Anything that touches regulated activity, such as executing trades for others or running a venue, needs qualified legal and compliance advice in the markets you serve.
Software cannot remove market risk. Backtests and dashboards describe the past or the present, not future results, and automated rules can fail in ways that cost money. We recommend limits, kill switches and testing before real capital is involved.
Build, buy or hybrid?
Many data and trading needs are met without custom engineering. The sensible options:
Existing platforms and BI tools
Charting packages, broker platforms and business-intelligence tools handle many dashboards and alerts. Use them if they meet the need.
Data vendor products
Some data providers include analytics and alerting. Check what their terms allow before building on their feed.
Custom platform
Appropriate when you need your own rules, latency profile, data blend or user experience, or when the platform is the product you sell.
Hybrid
Keep a vendor feed or tool for the commodity layer and build only your differentiating logic and interface.
When not to hire us. We are probably not the right choice if you want us to supply a profitable strategy or advice, to operate a venue or brokerage for you, or if an existing charting or BI tool already does what you need.
How we work
We start from the decisions the data must support, define the data model and architecture, then build and test ingestion, rules and interfaces against realistic loads and edge cases before launch.
What we need from you to start
- The data sources and their API documentation, plus the licence terms for using the data.
- The rules, calculations or metrics to implement, written precisely enough to test.
- Expected volumes and latency, such as updates per second and acceptable delay.
- Who the users are and which decisions they make from the screens.
- Which regulatory regime applies to your use and confirmation that you have taken advice on it.
Technology
- TypeScript
- Node.js
- Python
- PostgreSQL
- Redis
- React
Frequently asked questions
- Do you provide market data or trading advice?
- No. We build the software; you or your data providers supply the data and the strategy. Nothing we build is investment advice.
- Can we start with a data or backtesting proof rather than a complete platform?
- Yes. Choose a permitted dataset, precisely specified calculations and an acceptance task. Agree replay assumptions, reproducibility checks and handover. Keep research and paper execution separate from any later live order-routing approval.
- Can the platform connect to external data providers and exchanges?
- Usually yes, through their APIs. We assess the provider's interface and limits during scoping.
- How do you keep dashboards fast with a lot of data?
- By designing storage, aggregation and caching for the access patterns the interface actually needs.
- Can alerts reach people on the channels they use?
- Yes. Alerts can be delivered through email, messaging and other integrations we connect.
- Do you operate exchanges or hold financial licences?
- No. We do not operate exchanges or trading venues and we are not a brokerage. If your product needs authorisation to operate, that is for you and your legal advisers.
- Can you build automated trading logic?
- We can implement rules you specify and test them, with limits and monitoring. We do not design strategies, and automation of live orders should only follow thorough testing and compliance advice.
- How is our data and code protected?
- Keys for data providers are kept out of source code, access is limited by role, and storage location and retention are agreed with you. If your strategy logic is sensitive, we can agree confidentiality terms in the scope.
- Who owns the platform and how do we begin?
- Ownership is agreed in the written scope before work begins. To start, book a call or email us the data sources, rules and users involved.
